You’re Not Stuck, You’re Just Holding On. Here’s How to Release.

Writer: Lucy EllisLucy Ellis

On Saturday, I had a conversation with my husband, and since then, I’ve been twisted in knots. It’s been sitting in my gut, gnawing at me. Every time I think about it, anger, resentment, and pressure rise up, tightening around me.

And yet, like most of us do, I kept going. I kept showing up, kept moving through my to-do list, kept pretending like I was fine. But I wasn’t. The energy of it was still leaking through me, holding me in a funk.

It’s an old wound. One that has been triggered a hundred times, maybe more. I know this pattern. I know this feeling. And I know that if I don’t truly process it and move it through my body, it will just sit there and keep building and have the potential to create a serious rift between me and my husband. waiting for the next trigger, ready to rise again.

So, I choose something different.

Feeling It—Not Thinking About It

For so long, I believed that “moving on” meant just pushing forward. But that’s not real movement. That’s avoidance disguised as action.

Instead, I do what I know works: I sit with it.

  • I breathe. Deep, slow, intentional.

  • I hold the feeling in my awareness. Not the story. Not the blame, not the defense, just the raw sensation.

  • I soften.

  • I allow.

Then, I put on some beautiful music. I draw.  I don’t force meaning onto the art. I just let my hands move, let the colors blend, let my body express what my mind can’t.

And just like that, my woman opens again. (pictured artwork)

Softening is the Only Way Through

This is what it means to let life in. Not by bypassing the hard things, but by learning how to meet them fully, without gripping, without getting lost in the story, without shutting ourselves down.

We don’t “let go” by forcing ourselves to move on. We let go by:

  • Bringing presence to the feeling.

  • Softening, not gripping.

  • Moving the energy in ways that feel nourishing.

  • Letting it flow through, instead of locking it inside.

And when we do this, something magical happens. The tension releases. The energy shifts. And we return to ourselves.

Want to Practice This With Me?

This is exactly what we’ll be doing in my 3-day workshop, Let Life In.

Together, we’ll explore how to: - Be with emotions without getting lost in the story. - Use breath, movement, and creativity to move energy. - Let go of old patterns and open up to life in a whole new way.

If you’re ready to stop carrying things that no longer serve you, come join us. Let’s soften, let’s breathe, and let’s let life in, fully, completely, beautifully.

And you will get to experience deep connected healthy relationships, a calm body and mind and lots of love exploding from your heart. x
