I believe they d
o, and they can.
Over the last couple of months I have been helping a lot of students that are sitting their HSC. Stressed out, overwhelmed and anxious.
It seems in this high pressured stage of their life that there is only one way you really ‘should’ be, and that is STRESSED!
Clients speak of how their friends stress rubs off on them, and they can feel the teachers stress too. Mum or dad giving them the eyeball, when they catch them watching Netflix.
I always like to shock their brain a little, by suggesting that they can actually feel happy, calm and they can be having fun while they do their HSC. This always provokes some confused expressions.
I like to give them the golden ticket to be calm and have fun.
Imagine being able to look forward to studying for your HSC? Having your own schedule that you created and that fits in and around the things you like to do.
I know at my ripe old age of 37, I’m a shit studier, I’m the worlds best procrastinator, and I cant focus to save my life. However, I run three successful businesses, have three children and balance all of this with a bit of social life and physical activity.
How do I do it?
Well, I incorporate fun into my day. I make up my schedule, and I’m the most productive I have ever been.
Figuring I have some tried and tested hot tips for you to give a crack at will get you doing it all and having fun during your HSC.
Here are my top three for you!
Set a timer for 33 minutes. In this time you’re not ‘allowed’ to look at your phone or do anything but the task at hand. When the timer goes off you can reward yourself by, texting a friend, getting a drink, going for a short walk around the house.
Tear up little pieces of paper and write on each piece a lesson you have to study for, some assessments you have to finish, friends you want to hook up with, adventures you want to go on. TV shows you want to watch, movies you want to see, tests that you need to learn etc etc. Absolutely anything you can think of that you have to do or want to do. Then you fold each piece of paper up and you put it into a hat or a jug or I use a vase, and then you pull out a lucky dip. If you get watch a show you watch one episode, if you get to finish that assessment, do 33 minutes of undisrupted work on it, and you just keep getting lucky dips all day. This is seriously how I run all three of my businesses, and my life.
Do a brain dump every single morning and every single night. Set the timer again, I love working to a clock, cant you tell. In a notebook just go for it, write down everything and anything that is taking up space and creating noise in your head. You might want to do it in list form, or just go crazy and scribble all over the page or pages. Get it all out. One it’s out you will instantly feel lighter, then you can take a big deep breath and you can choose what you want to tackle first.
I’d love to hear from you, do you have any fun ways to study or get stuff done?

So, can HSC and Fun really be in the same sentence?
I think so.
